I had it all - so I thought

I spent the first 32 years of my life thinking I had everything not allowing myself the opportunity to explore the occasional thought which I had; of there being something more. I was raised by two wonderful parents along with my three sisters in a close loving and supportive home. I had a lot of mates, some of whom I had known since childhood and considered them close friends. I spent a lot of my spare time going out with my them; having a laugh and life seemed good.

A Good Start

I went to Sunday school and church with my parents as a child. My uncle was a preacher and occasionally gave me printed stories about God. I didn’t ask questions about them, and they didn’t make any impression on me.

High Flying
I was 47 when I realized I had fallen out with the boss! That may not seem any big deal to you, but it was to me. As the Managing Director of a subsidiary of one of the country’s better known companies, I felt I had a lot to lose. I had considered my career path to be successful and all looked on course for the remaining ‘Baker’s Dozen’ of years left and a comfortable retirement. Although an interesting career, involving world travel and a lot of ‘high flying’, it had also been fairly narrow. I had only ever worked for 2 companies and one of those just for my formal training years. So with the ‘falling out’ came a level of insecurity, which I subsequently came to understand was just fear, dressed up in a different way.

Whose plan are you following?

Life - something that can turn around on a pinhead. Home, school, training, relationships, these all seemed to be going according to my plan, culminating in marriage to a lovely man, a move away from my home town and familiar faces, to begin an exciting new life in farming together.
